I Have Cellulite and I Wear Shorts

Many cellulite treatments, including massages or cellulite creams, advertise remarkable results. Most of these treatments don’t live up to their claims. Having cellulite doesn’t mean you are overweight. Even thin people can have it. If you are overweight, however, losing weight may reduce cellulite. Cellulite isn’t a serious medical condition, and treatment isn’t necessary. Weight gain can make cellulite more noticeable, but some lean people have cellulite, as well. Although you can’t get rid of cellulite completely, here are some simple things you can do to reduce its appearance.

There is currently no medical research to support the effectiveness of anti-cellulite creams in getting rid of cellulite. Some “treatments” may temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite. They won’t last, though. The retinoid-based creams have been shown to increase the denseness of the epidermis to facial skin when applied for years. At this time, no large-scale studies have been published on topical retinoids for cellulite removal. If you have an unhealthy lifestyle and you build up more body fat, there’s a good possibility that this body fat can convert to that type of cellulite fat structure as well. In addition, an increased deposition of subcutaneous body fat may often reflect a lifestyle of less exercise and changes in dietary consumption.

Intense cardio workouts such as running, cycling, hiking up hills, or taking cardio classes are your greatest weapon. Buckwheat is a slow-burning, easily digestible whole grain that (natural cellulite treatment), in addition to being a complete protein, is also rich in B vitamins and fiber. Cellulite is stored in subcutaneous fat in the hypodermis, and this is also where appetite-regulating hormones – leptin, the appetite suppressor, and ghrelin, the appetite increaser – are produced. In my practice, Cellfina has become the gold standard for treatment of cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. Subcision, a surgical technique where a tiny blade or laser cannula cuts the fibrous septae, is the treatment of choice for those looking for an invasive treatment. However it can be expensive and causes short-term bruising.

The Cellfina procedure costs between $3,000 and $6,000, depending on how many areas are treated and the location of the medical practice. Therefore, physical exercises like walking or jogging, swimming, jumping on a mini-trampoline, skipping with a rope, and even yoga are all effective ways to control stress and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Endermologie, which is available at many spas (how to get rid of cellulite on your legs), involves kneading the skin with a rolling suction device to boost circulation and stimulate collagen production. Cellulite is less visible on darker skin, so substitute your normal body moisturizer for a self-tanning lotion or a glow-inducing BB body cream. Results are long-term, and the procedure is expected to cost from $2,500 to $3,000 per area.

Fighting cellulite can largely be summed up as adopting a natural, healthy lifestyle — and that’s something that offers countless benefits in its own right. It seems that a natural bristle semi-firm brush with a handle is best and I keep mine in the shower to use daily right before showering. Water keeps the skin hydrated and flushes out toxins, and is key if you want to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful, too. Cigarette smoke has been shown to reduce blood vessel flow and to weaken and disrupt the formation of collagen, allowing for the connective tissue to become stretched and damaged more easily and for underlying fat to show through. Dark leafy greens like spinach, chard, and kale are also rich in fiber, antioxidants, and minerals that promote healthier skin (best way to lose cellulite), faster cell regeneration, improved circulation, and more efficient fat metabolism.

Other possibilities are techniques that cut the fibrous walls enclosing the fat, allowing the fat to smooth out and appear less bumpy. “[Laser Lipo] consists of pads placed directly on the skin for 15 minutes that emit a specific wavelength of light that causes fat cells to essentially ‘collapse’ and shrink,” said Dr. Aaron. And no weird side effects! Cellulite gets worse, as collagen and elastin levels decrease in the body. Making a regular use of sun protection will slow, that decrease and add moisture, too. While there is no known cure to completely banish cellulite, there are ways to help minimize its appearance, so you can don your bathing suit and head to the beach with confidence. The only proven and long-lasting effective method of reducing cellulite on your body is to have more muscle and less fat.
