Cellulite, the lumpy substance resembling cottage cheese that is commonly found on the thighs, stomach, and butt, is actually a fancy name for collections of fat issue. Cellulite isn’t harmful. Many people, though, would like to get rid of it because of the way it looks. Cellulite isn’t a serious medical condition, and treatment isn’t necessary. Since cellulite is largely due to a structural conformation below the skin, it is often common in very slender women. Genetics is only one small part of the cellulite puzzle; factors like diet, exercise, and maintaining a healthy weight also play a role.
There is no scientific evidence that cellulite creams are effective against cellulite, and for some people, they can be harmful. If you’re not building muscle, eating a healthful diet low in processed carbohydrates and sugar, and staying hydrated, weight loss may exacerbate cellulite. The basis of most of the herbal treatments is to enhance the microcirculation in the dermis area. It is interesting to note that research has shown a slight decrease in thigh girth with herbal treatments (exercises that get rid of cellulite) but a return to normal when the application ceased. When used as a compliment to exercise, eating healthy, taking certain supplements, and exfoliating, cellulite creams can make a big difference in how your skin looks and feels. It is important to note that many of the cellulite treatment studies have been completed with relatively small sample sizes and generally do not follow up with their participants for extended periods of time.
Many devices, products and creams claim to treat cellulite. But there is little or no scientific evidence to support these claims. We know you’re already eating them for their rich essential fatty acid content, but nuts are another diet staple that help lessen the appearance of cellulite. Cellulite is stored in subcutaneous fat in the hypodermis, and this is also where appetite-regulating hormones – leptin, the appetite suppressor, and ghrelin, the appetite increaser (ways to get rid of cellulite) – are produced. In my practice, Cellfina has become the gold standard for treatment of cellulite on the thighs and buttocks. You can see that a healthy lymph system is critical to stopping the formation and breaking the cellulite building cycle.
The price of cellulite treatment varies for each person depending on the extent of treatment necessary. The female hypodermis consists of small ‘recesses’ separated by parallel walls (septa). Due to fat and water which accumulate in these recesses, the walls are compressed, damaging the microcirculation and the natural form of the cell. And one of the best ways to camouflage cellulite, according to make-up artists on the old television show “Baywatch,” a program built around bikini babes (how to reduce cellulite on legs), is self tanner. Cellulite is less visible on darker skin, so substitute your normal body moisturizer for a self-tanning lotion or a glow-inducing BB body cream. You’ll probably need at least six sessions, which cost $50 to $150 each; the (subtle) results could last up to a few months.
I’d like to tell you that getting rid of cellulite is a quick remedy away but that’s not quite accurate. Increasing blood flow to these areas can help remove cellulite and kettlebells are one of the most effective ways to build muscle and burn fat (both which help minimize the appearance of cellulite) (best treatment for cellulite). Use a scrub every time you shower to increase circulation on thighs and buttocks too. A regular exercise practice cannot cure cellulite—but in many cases it can help prevent or reduce its appearance. Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, an anti-inflammatory that also helps to reduce cellulite by boosting fat cell metabolism. Enjoy half a cup of cubed pineapple as part of your breakfast, for a refreshing mid-day snack, or for dessert.
Now that you know those pesky dimples can be eliminated, time to take the right steps towards treating your body better. NASA discovered Red Light Therapy and while the beds look exactly like tanning ones, these use only infrared lights to increase blood circulation, skin tightening and minimizing pores. Some experts claim, this is the key to total cellulite removal, saying, it helps speed up the lymph system to remove toxins from the body. While there is no known cure to completely banish cellulite, there are ways to help minimize its appearance, so you can don your bathing suit and head to the beach with confidence. Start lifting weight (homemade cellulite cream). And if you already lift weight? Keep doing so! Because cardio isn’t going to get rid of all your cellulite. (Nothing is going to get rid of all your cellulite.)
