Cellulite is the term given to the dimpled skin on the abdomen, buttocks, and thighs of most healthy adult women. Although cellulite can affect both sexes, it is much more common in females, mainly because they are more likely to have particular types of fat and connective tissue (best anti cellulite cream). Cellulite is not related to the condition known as cellulitis, which is a spreading bacterial infection or inflammation of the skin and tissues beneath the skin. Since cellulite is largely due to a structural conformation below the skin, it is often common in very slender women. Although you can’t get rid of cellulite completely, here are some simple things you can do to reduce its appearance.
There is currently no medical research to support the effectiveness of anti-cellulite creams in getting rid of cellulite. Losing pounds and strengthening muscles (exercises to reduce cellulite) in your legs, thighs, buttocks and abdomen can improve the appearance of the dimpled skin. Massage and body manipulation techniques are employed to enhance the removal of fluid in the dermis area. These techniques do not remove the cellulite, but may have a temporary effect in reducing the amount of ‘dimpling’ appearance. The very hormone which helps us relax during pregnancy decreases production of collagen, which is the protein which helps keeps skin elastic and strong. Regular exercise helps increase muscle tone and burn fat. Both help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.
Eating healthy, low fat foods such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help one to avoid cellulite. Buckwheat is a slow-burning, easily digestible whole grain that, in addition to being a complete protein (how to get rid of cellulite on thighs), is also rich in B vitamins and fiber. Retinoic acid (retinol) used over a period of >6 months has been shown to improve cellulite, probably by increasing dermal collagen thickness and contour of elastic fibres. Cellfina uses mechanical subcision and works by cutting tissue bands (with the tiniest scalpel—there’s no bleeding and barely any bruising) in the fat under the skin to smooth out dimpling. Subcision, a surgical technique where a tiny blade or laser cannula cuts the fibrous septae, is the treatment of choice for those looking for an invasive treatment. However it can be expensive and causes short-term bruising.
Most of us live stressful lives as we try to balance our work and personal lives. In stressful situations the inflammatory stress hormone cortisol is released and research has proven that people with elevated cortisol levels are more likely to have cellulite. The female hypodermis consists of small ‘recesses’ separated (remove cellulite) by parallel walls (septa). Due to fat and water which accumulate in these recesses, the walls are compressed, damaging the microcirculation and the natural form of the cell. And one of the best ways to camouflage cellulite, according to make-up artists on the old television show “Baywatch,” a program built around bikini babes, is self tanner. Laser treatments are combined with massage and rolling; they either do suction or rolling and use radio waves and heat up the fat—put fat on a stove in a frying pan, and it melts. One session typically does the trick, but it costs about $5,000. And, still, it’s not a permanent solution: Results can last for up to six years, but that means you’ll eventually need a repeat treatment.
I’d like to tell you that getting rid of cellulite is a quick remedy away but that’s not quite accurate. One theory is that the decline of gelatin containing foods in our diets has led to an increase in cellulite as we don’t have the needed building blocks for healthy connective tissue. Make sure you scrub before you get into the shower, always in circular motions, always starting at the ankles and working up towards your heart. Cigarette smoke has been shown to reduce blood vessel flow and to weaken and disrupt the formation of collagen, allowing for the connective tissue to become stretched and damaged more easily and for underlying fat to show through. One of the best dietary sources of collagen, gelatin is known to improve skin health and cell regeneration. Regular consumption of gelatin also promotes healthier connective tissues which attach the skin to muscles and are a contributor to the bumpy appearance of cellulite.
Other possibilities are techniques that cut the fibrous walls enclosing the fat (cellulite treatments), allowing the fat to smooth out and appear less bumpy. “[Laser Lipo] consists of pads placed directly on the skin for 15 minutes that emit a specific wavelength of light that causes fat cells to essentially ‘collapse’ and shrink,” said Dr. Aaron. And no weird side effects! Not only does exercise, burn the excess fat that can cause cellulite, it also increase blood flow to the surface of the skin and this plumps the skin making it less noticeable. Any of your citrusy fruits are just great for that. Foods high in Omega 3 such as salmon and mackerel are excellent as well. So get stronger. Find a program and stick with it, whether that’s powerlifting or Olympic lifting or CrossFit or you and your buddies in your garage with dumbbells or whatever.
